My birthday is coming and I want to do something meaningful and special. I live in Oakland, a city that has been overtaken by gentrification, rapid displacement and of course the obvious homelessness crisis.
On June 25th, 2019, I opened my first business that is operated out of my home “Deema’s Snacks & Shack”. The main focus for this business is to earn enough money to open a homeless shelter here in Oakland.
I’d love if you would join me for 2hrs on my birthday to give back and feed the homeless. I am currently working on obtaining permits to serve hot meals that will feature many of my menu items. If the permits do not come in on time, it’ll be bag lunches with Turkey & cheese sandwiches or ham and cheese sandwiches, a bag of chips and a canned soda or bottle of water.
- We will travel to various homeless encampments throughout East Oakland. Our meeting point will be at St. Benedict’s Church: 2245 82nd Ave, Oakland, CA 94605. If you are able to attend, donate, or pack lunches to help serve as many as possible, please send me an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org. . Feel free to respond to this post with any questions you may have.
